I am Tanya Lines—healer, guide, wild woman, and spiritual alchemist.

Born under the wide skies of Iowa and rooted in the soil of Kansas, my journey has been anything but ordinary. It has been a long and winding spiral through trauma, awakening, and reclamation—a descent into darkness that would ultimately become the very source of my power.

Like many, I was raised in a world of strict beliefs, told there was only one right way to live, love, and exist. But my soul always whispered otherwise. I knew I was here for something deeper, something ancient. Still, from the age of 12, survival became my default mode—endlessly searching for meaning, for love, for a place to belong.

I’ve endured nearly every form of relationship trauma—physical, emotional, financial, sexual, and psychological abuse—and lived through the collapse of one marriage and many painful connections. I was a single mother of four, carrying the weight of generations and lifetimes. And yet... something in me refused to dim.

After the birth of my fourth child, I found temporary purpose in the world of fitness. I dove in, believing I had found my calling. But the truth was: it was just the doorway. The moment I committed to the 75 Hard program in 2020, it became a spiritual reckoning—a sacred disruption that pulled me out of the toxic patterns I was drowning in. That was my first spiritual awakening, and once the veil lifted, I could never return to sleep.

From there, the call to go deeper intensified. I became obsessed with uncovering the truth of who I am and why I’m here—diving headfirst into energy work, ancient wisdom, divine feminine remembrance, earth medicine, and shadow alchemy. Another relationship led me into the wild—living off-grid, homesteading on 11 acres, learning the language of the land. But after a traumatic brain injury, my soul spoke louder than ever: You must leave everything behind to find yourself.

And so I did.

Now, I live in Denver, Colorado, walking a sacred path of solitude and sovereignty. For the first time in my life, I am alone—no partner, no children, no distractions—just me, the Earth, Spirit, and the echoes of everything I’ve survived. It has been here, in the silence, that I’ve grieved, healed, unraveled, and risen.

The more I remembered who I am, the deeper the initiations became. I walked through the fires of shadow work, soul retrieval, and ancestral clearing. And in that sacred undoing, I found my purpose—not just to heal myself, but to guide others through the same threshold.

✨ Free the Feral Spirit was born from this journey.

It is a spiritual sanctuary for those who feel the wild call of something more. A place where you can finally remember the truth of who you are beneath the trauma, the conditioning, and the silence.
Here, we walk hand in hand into the shadow, into the forest, into the mystery—so you can reclaim your power and rise in your wholeness.

The Grumpy Traveler

Hello everyone and welcome to my travel blog, where I share beauty of the world through my eyes as a shaman.

The Growing Pains
Growing up in Franktown, Colorado on a farm with lots of acreage and trees, I developed a profound connection with nature. I used to spend a lot of time alone as a kid because i would walk everywhere on the property, and didn't have many friends because I never really fit into the groups. at about the age of 10, dad let me use his Pentax film camera and I started using it almost every day to get better at compositions and making good shots. I was getting really good at it, and then was told to go to college and earn my living. as I got older I fell into the " American dream" trap and went to college to further my education.  which lead to my degree in Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management from the University of Wyoming. I had a 9-5 job that was slowly depleting my energy and being stuck behind a desk made me want to fall down a flight of stairs every day. I didn't last long at that job and came back to work farming for my family, and got a second job working at a livestock market for 10 years. I thought the job behind the desk was rough.. boy was I in for a hard life curve there.  I almost died multiple times from wild cattle every day and the 90 hour weeks were destroying my mental health. I decided it was time for a change from the backbreaking labor of " working hard for a paycheck" and " earning me keep."

The Rising Tide
SO moving away from the sad.. lifeless part of me and moving forward from there. After realizing that I needed an outlet to get away from obligation and work and ease my mind, I bought a Nikon D3500 camera and lens and started trying to remember how to do photography again.

being out in the wilderness, in nature reminded me of the silence I used to love as a kid. It made me hungry to explore again and enjoy the world. So that's when the grumpy traveler was reborn.

My adventures have taken me from the lush landscapes of Ireland to the vibrant shores of Cozumel, and the breathtaking wilderness of Alaska. While I cherish these experiences, there's something truly special about spending my days in stunning expanses of Wyoming. As I plan to travel more and embrace life’s wonders alongside Tanya Lines of Free the Feral, I invite you to join me in celebrating the little moments and the that surround us. Let’s wander together and discover the magic of our world!
