My name is Cody Weatherly and I am the Grumpy Traveler
I'm not your typical travel photographer. My adventures span the globe, capturing stunning landscapes, vibrant cultures, and the unpredictable, deeply human moments that make every journey unique.
Through my lens, you'll see breathtaking beauty. Behind the scenes, you'll hear tales of wrong turns, spontaneous discoveries, and travel mishaps that leave you laughing. But my work goes deeper than photography—as a shaman and mindfulness coach, I help people reconnect with themselves and the world around them. 2nd Place (and Honestly Shocked)
This year, I entered the 2025 Platte River Photography Competition in Douglas, Wyoming, sponsored by The Enterprise of Douglas, WY.
Good news—I placed 2nd in the amateur landscape photography category!
Which makes me move up into another catagory for next year: the professional... where I have to compete with even better photographers to place!
After seeing all those incredible images on the walls, I didn't think I had a chance to even make it. You can see the surprise on my face in the pictures below. My photo will be on display at the Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum in Douglas, Wy for the next year, which is pretty surreal.
Good news as well! I currently do not have any space on my walls for said picture so I am offering it for sale. Please contact me for more information!
My friend Alyssa Meyers also entered the competition. While she didn't place, her work absolutely earned its spot on that wall.

Help me to explore the ancient sites. Lets travel from the ancient city of Athens to Kalabaka to see the gorgeous temples of Meteora. To walk in the same steps that Socrates, Aristotle, Alexander the Great's sandals had once made these amazing conclusions and advancements in thie life and human history.
To The Temple of Athena to see what man could build 3000 years ago with bare hands and masonry tools. When people dedicated thier lives to a single practice and made marvelous works of art and engineering.
To the lands where 300 brave spartans made the last stand to defeat a massive army of invading persians. seeing what they saw defending their country.
To Delphi: The home of the ancient oracle, where decisions were made that would change the course of humanity, good or bad.
To cape Sounion, and the temple of jupiter for sunset photography.
for the thousands of pictures i will bring home, and the stories I get to tell to others. to meeting new people and making new friends about meeting new people. To the new experiences and life building exercises.
to the hilarous mishaps! So common in travel and more common with me.
